VCAA to discontinue VCE Industry and Enterprise after 2027

Students can still complete Units 1 to 4 next year, but the study ends with the 2027 exam.

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority will discontinue VCE Industry and Enterprise, with 2027 the final year the study is delivered.

In a notice to schools dated 29 October 2026, the authority said students can still take Units 1 to 4 next year, including Units 3 and 4, and that arrangements are in place through the final 2027 examination.

The VCAA does not name a single replacement. It says the study has broad similarities with VCE Business Management, VCE Vocational Major Work Related Skills, and Structured Workplace Learning in VET for Units 1 and 2. It points to the wide availability of Business Management and Work Related Skills as a way for students to keep learning about employability and career readiness.

The notice gives no reason for the decision. Principals have been asked to make sure Industry and Enterprise teachers and students know about the change.
