Adelaide Writers' Week set for 27 February to 4 March 2027
Writers' Week runs within the Adelaide Festival, which is scheduled for 26 February to 14 March 2027.
Adelaide Writers' Week will run from 27 February to 4 March 2027 in a garden setting in the Adelaide city centre. The event is part of the Adelaide Festival, which is scheduled for 26 February to 14 March 2027.
Writers' Week offers six days of panel sessions that are free to attend and held live in the gardens, along with a number of ticketed special events. Its program includes Young Readers' Day and Breakfast with Papers, and sessions are also released as podcasts. The festival describes the event as "Australia's largest free literary festival".
According to the festival, a first look at the Writers' Week line-up will be released together with the full Adelaide Festival program. The final Writers' Week program and session schedule is published about a month before the event begins.
Over its history, Writers' Week has brought many leading writers and thinkers from around the world to Adelaide, with sessions covering literature, politics, poetry, current affairs, biography and the short story. Invitations to appear are made at the discretion of the festival's artistic director. Past guests have included Geraldine Brooks, who has called it the model for what a book festival should be, and Pip Williams, who says she loved the event first as a reader and now as a writer.
