The Ann Moyal Non-Fiction Fellowship opened on 3 November 2026. It offers a three-week residency from 27 September to 18 October 2027.

The Shanghai Western Sydney Writing Exchange opened on 27 October 2026. It offers a two-month residency in September and October 2027 and is open only to alumni of Western Sydney University and Varuna.

The main Varuna Residential Fellowships, for stays between September 2027 and September 2028, open on 2 March 2027 and close at 5pm AEST on 13 April 2027. Up to 50 fellowships will be offered, 29 of them flagship fellowships, with residencies of two to three weeks. The application fee is $70, or $40 for Healthcare card holders.
