University of Queensland Press (UQP) has signed George Kemp's second novel, The Herd. The deal was announced on 10 September 2026.

UQP publisher Aviva Tuffield described the book as a work that uses an outbreak of bird flu as a lens on its subject. Neither the territory covered by the deal nor a publication date was given in the announcement summary on Kemp's website.

UQP announced the acquisition alongside a rights sale. North American rights to Kemp's novel Soft Serve have gone to Europa Editions, which plans to publish it in 2027. UQP holds world rights to Soft Serve.

Kemp's website lists Natalie Stewart at HLA Management as the contact for professional enquiries.
