Dunedin Writers & Readers Festival has confirmed it will return in 2027, running over the weekend of 10 to 12 September in Ōtepoti Dunedin.

The festival describes the event as three days of books, words, ideas and conversation. The announcement was shared on 30 October through the news pages of Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature, and the dates also appear in the Kete Books events calendar.

Alongside the dates, the festival is hiring. It is looking for a programme director to shape the 2027 festival, and for new board members. It describes its current team as small. The notice did not give closing dates for either role, and points applicants to the festival's own website for details.

The programme director role is likely to be of interest to festival programmers, publicists and literary producers in New Zealand and beyond, given the lead time before September 2027.
