KSP Writers' Centre open day to launch special edition of Coonardoo
The centre's annual Katharine's Birthday open day on 5 December includes a UWA Publishing launch, a heritage tour and competition awards.
KSP Writers' Centre in the Perth hills will hold its annual open day, Katharine's Birthday, on Saturday 5 December at Katharine's Place in Greenmount, the former home of Katharine Susannah Prichard.
The day opens at 11am with UWA Publishing launching a special edition of Prichard's novel Coonardoo. Nathan Hobby will then lead a 45-minute tour of the heritage property.
In the afternoon the centre will present the awards for its short fiction competition at 1pm and its poetry competition at 2pm. Dragonfly Publishing will launch a poetry collection by Karen Throssell, Prichard's granddaughter, at 3.45pm. A sausage sizzle will raise funds for the centre.
Entry is free, but each session needs its own registration, places are limited and waitlists are open for sessions that have filled. The not-for-profit centre runs the day each December.
