Newcastle Writers Festival sets 2 to 4 April 2027 for 15th anniversary
The dates follow a busy spring for the festival, including its first schools writing competition and the 2026 Fresh Ink Prize.
Newcastle Writers Festival will run from 2 to 4 April 2027, marking 15 years since the festival began.
The dates were posted alongside several announcements from the festival this spring. On 13 September it named the winners of its first Story Hunter Schools Writing Competition, who had been revealed at an event at Newcastle City Library on 29 August.
On 19 October the festival shortlisted five writers, two from the Hunter, for the 2026 Fresh Ink Prize, now in its sixth year. On 1 November it named Emily Herbert, from Tintinhull near Tamworth, as winner of the Fresh Ink Emerging Writer Prize. She receives $5,000 to spend on professional development.
The 2027 program has not yet been released. The festival is seeking volunteers, sponsors, donors and members for its patrons program.
