Verb Wellington brings back VerbCrawl for one night on 14 November
The one-night literary crawl fills bars, galleries, bookshops and a fabric store in central Wellington, with every ticket priced at $10.
Verb Wellington will run VerbCrawl, its one-night literary festival, across inner-city Wellington on Saturday 14 November. The festival website lists 26 events at 13 venues, run in three timed phases, with a pre-party from 5pm and a free after-party at Meow from 9.15pm.
The program leans towards grassroots literary collectives, independent journals and new writers, and many sessions combine performance with reading. Venues include bars, galleries, bookshops and a fabric store, and every ticket costs $10.
Sessions include Political Afterthoughts, a post-election debrief hosted by James Nokise with journalists from The Spinoff, The Post and RNZ. Poets Chris Tse and Haro Lee will talk pop culture at Drapers Fabrics, Noelle McCarthy leads a gothic reading salon at St Peter's on Willis, and metal band FVKVSHIMA plays with four poets at Meow. Todd Atticus will launch the first stage of a year-long visual poem across the city at City Gallery Wellington.
VerbCrawl follows the Verb Readers & Writers Festival held in September and is programmed by co-directors Kate McDonald and Gabrielle Vincent. Tickets went on sale on 14 October. As of 5 November the festival website showed every event as sold out, though it says door sales will be offered unless an event sells out in advance.
