Debris Magazine seeks remote publication coordinator
The independent arts publication is offering a two-year, one-day-a-week contract paying $3,000 per issue. Applications close 22 November.
Independent arts publication Debris Magazine is looking for a publication coordinator to lead the production and development of the magazine on a two-year contract. The role, advertised on 23 October, can be done remotely, though a Melbourne base is preferred.
The position is one day a week, with more hours in the lead-up to publication deadlines, and pays $3,000 per issue. Debris was founded five years ago and has published seven issues featuring 145 writers and artists. It has shown at art book fairs in Europe and at the Melbourne Art Book Fair.
The coordinator will be the main contact for editors, writers and contributors, help develop issue themes and track work from submission to final proofs. They will work with the magazine's graphic designer, run production timelines and approvals, and draft and manage contributor contracts and payment records. The job also covers national, regional and local grant applications and acquittals, finding sponsors and distribution partners, and running issue launches and book fair appearances.
Applicants should have experience in arts administration or cultural project management, grant writing, and contracts and publishing rights. Experience with independent literary or art publications is an advantage but not essential.
Applications, including a CV and cover letter, go by email to director Julia Flaster, whose contact details are given with the job advertisement. Applications close on 22 November 2026.
