Sydney Writers' Festival is taking applications for five internships attached to its 2027 festival, aimed at people early in their arts careers.

Three of the placements sit in event management, covering programming and logistics, production and operations, and volunteers. The others are in marketing and in partnerships and development. Placements run for 13 or 15 weeks and involve 150 or 160 hours, with start dates between 1 February and 1 March 2027.

Interns work from the festival's head office in The Rocks, with days and times set by agreement and some tasks able to be done remotely. The festival says the program is built so students can keep up their studies. Interns need to be free for festival week, from Monday 17 May to Sunday 23 May.

Applications are open until midnight on Sunday 15 November 2026 through an online form. Each internship has its own role description on the festival's website.
